High School Instrumental Jazz Camp
-June 6-8, 2025
-Laramie County Community College - Cheyenne, WY
-Starts Friday afternoon and ends Sunday afternoon 
-For 2025-2026 incoming high school freshman through seniors
-$44 covering camp attendance, meals, and two nights of housing in the LCCC residence halls
-Open to instrumental students of all skill levels
-The camp will try to accommodate as many students as possible, but we request students to register early
-The camp will consist of jazz camp faculty concerts, small group ensembles, listening sessions, improvisation and jazz theory masterclasses, and studio classes focused on individual instruments/rhythm section. The camp will conclude with a Sunday afternoon concert from the students performing the music they learned during camp and music that will be used as audition material for all-state jazz auditions.

This opportunity provides instrumental Wyoming music teachers who are teaching or interested in teaching jazz the opportunity to learn and refresh their jazz knowledge. Teachers will participate in a day long workshop where they will rehearse in a jazz big band ensemble and focus on best practices in teaching jazz. This opportunity will also allow teachers the opportunity to meet with colleagues and discuss the state of jazz education in Wyoming, and how to strengthen jazz education. This event will run in conjunction with the Wyoming Jazz Educators Summer Jazz camp for high school students. The big band will be directed by Dr. Frank Cook with participation from other members of the Faculty Jazz Camp.

Times:

10:30am-noon Jazz Band Rehearsal #1; 

Noon-1:30pm Lunch at the Dining Hall; 

1:30-4pm Jazz Band Rehearsal #2; 

4-6pm State of Jazz Education in Wyoming Discussion; 

6-8pm BBQ w/ students and faculty from the camp; 

8pm Combined Concert with Jazz Band and members of the Camp Faculty

Cost:

Wyoming Jazz Educators Membership ($20 if not already paid for the year)

Housing:

Housing is available in the LCCC Residence Halls for Saturday Night
